South takes the win at the GHSA 7A state finals in Columbus, Georgia on Saturday, November 11. “After a season riddled with illnesses and injuries, it was definitely unexpected by everyone in the arena for us to nail two flawless performances at the cheerleading state semifinals and state championships.  The team trusted one another and the Lord blessed us with abundantly more that we could have ever imagine,” Competition Head Cheer Coach, Shayla Brawner said. The girls worked hard to receive their title, edging out Lambert and West, who placed second and third respectively. The season officially started August 1st, and they have been practicing for 2 hours each day including breaks to prepare for this event. “Our entire team is a family of warriors that refused to give up.  I could name specifically how each one of them contributed to our ultimate success.  However, the senior class is extra special having been in the program for four years earning 13th their first year followed by two State Runner-Up performances in 2015 and 2016.  They are resilient and talented and have undoubtedly left their mark on our program.  The Class of 2018 includes: Madi Brock, Emma Bueltel, Jaimee Crumpler, Raegan Dover, Sydney Rayner, and Courtney Stephens.”
