New Book, New Life

A new life going by with every page turned
Wind swishing by surviving the story you yearned
Curling up in bed the warmth ensuring your safety
Winning the war is no decision that’s hasty

But you root for the characters to win the war
The heart shaking scenes rattling straight to my core
Oh what new friends I have made
My love for them cutting like a blade

So overtaken by the feelings they make you sense
Stabbing here and there, oh no! There goes their defense
Dodging up and down but finally he gets stabbed
Falling to the ground without no hope for him to be grabbed

But out comes his lover your heart starts to swell
Feeling their every emotion on you like a spell
You feel their pain, you feel their glee
For they are your true family

Sorrow and happiness, heartbreak and joy
Hitting you like the heart of the wonderboy
You live with them and die with them
Your eyes shining with tears like a diadem.

A new home found, a new life begun
Reality and fantasy, merged to be one
You reach out thinking the people you can touch
Watching their story and loving them so much

Day and night passed but not a second of reading you can waste
But the final victory and defeat so close you can taste
Tears of sadness, tears of rejoice, tears of belonging, and tears of saying goodbye
But the last words you read, you question why

Oh why did the author give you the heartache you felt
The last words you read making your cry dealt
Longing to go back into the world to seal a happy end
Saying goodbye to all your family and your friends

You grab the cover, shutting the book close
Swirling back to reality thanking the book you chose
Sitting there and wondering all your adventures you faced
Hoping for the memories never to be erased

The sad scenes, the funny scenes, the wars, the deaths
You sit there thinking and taking deep breaths
When It finally hits you holding back your squeal
You realize that, It’s. Not. Real.
