Description : The Optimist Club at South Forsyth is a group of dedicated students who are concerned about improving the community. It was founded by Aditya Bhave and was the first JOI Optimist Club in the Forsyth-Cumming branch. Their goal is to bring out the best in students and their community through local service projects here in Cumming. During these meetings, students discuss ways they can better themselves and their environment as well as plan future volunteer opportunities. In the past, Optimist Club students have volunteered at places such as Sunrise Senior Living, MedShare, Change4Georgia, and many more. Anyone who is looking to improve our community’s standard of living for the better is welcome to join.

Volunteer activities (since Nov 2015) : Many of the volunteer activities the club has participated in include volunteering at Sunrise Senior Living, the Change4Georgia Operation, AppreciationMedShare, the Ronald McDonald House Charities Fundraiser, the IHOP Cancer Campaign, the March of Dimes Fundraiser, and a safety lecture

Anna is a freshman and is excited for her first year as a part of The Bird Feed. She has been a competitive gymnast since she was six years old and loves to be active. In her spare time she enjoys reading, being with her friends, and listening to any kind of music. Her favorite shows to binge on Netflix include Quantico, Riverdale, and That 70’s Show. She is a lover of all things science and one day aspires to work in the medical field. Some of her wildest hopes and dreams include traveling the world and finding the cure for cancer. In addition, Anna is a Christian and is actively involved in her church in choir and youth group.

Macy Kline, Opinions Section Editor

Macy Kline is a junior at South Forsyth High School and taking on her third year with The Bird Feed staff. Macy enjoys music and loves to spend summer nights at concerts and festivals. After a long day at school, you can always catch her cruising around with her music way too loud. Macy believes laughter is by far the best ingredient to a happy life. In her downtime, a cup of coffee and Netflix makes for a perfect night. Some of her favorite shows include The Office, How I Met your Mother, Grey's Anatomy, and Riverdale. As a staff member, Macy is most interested in design and writing feature articles. Macy is excited to grow with the journalism program and looks forward to a good year.
